We are planning on traveling to Toronto (from Pittsburgh) this August for a short vacation. We plan to visit the CN Tower and take our 4-year old daughter to the Toronto Zoo, along with a day trip to Niagra Falls. Looking for accomodations in Toronto that would be kid-friendly. Any suggestions? Anyone have any experience with the Sheraton Centre Toronto or the Delta Chelsea?

I stayed at the Sheraton Centre a year ago, it was under renovation at the time so perhaps it has improved.

I thought it overpriced for the rundown condition but.......the mattresses are wonderful.

Staff was so-so.

No experience with the Delta Chelsea.

I am heading back out on Friday and am staying at the Ramada which gave me a great rate.

We have stayed at the Delta Chelsea and the kids loved it. I don't think the 4 year old would be big enought to go on the waterslide as there was a minimum swimming requirement. It is very kid friendly, and at the time the package deals were good. The family fun package had free parking, 25$ food voucher, and Camp Chelsea which was a day camp if the kids wanted to attend. They plyed games, made crafts, ate lunch together in the restaurant with adult supervisors that were like camp counsellors. My kids liked it but they were 10 and there were 2 of them. When we went to the zoo we stayed at the Don Valley Crowne Plaza which is cheaper than staying downtown. Our room rate included four free zoo passes. It also had an indoor and an outdoor pool and free parking. The Sheraton Centre is nice depending which tower they stick you in. There's a new tower and an older one. The pool is cool there though as it is indoor/outdoor (you swim under a plastic curtain to get outside). If you go to the zoo, pay the $ to ride the zoomobile - it is such a relief from walking and the zoo is a very big place. Don't miss the polar bears.

The Delta is the hotel of choice for kids.

The Sheraton Center renos are done, at least in the public areas, and there are often kids there.

Hilton is probably the dullest hotel for kids. (or adults, for that matter)

Holiday Inn on King is kid-friendly. Probably Le Germain and Soho Metropolitan are not.

A million years ago I used to stay in Torontohotels a lot; Windsor Arms without my kids, and Delta Chelsea with them, and I'd go back with little kids today.

One of the projects for the girl -- look for animals in Toronto. Pictures and statues, and real animals, too.

African Lion Safari, which is sort of north of Niagara Falls, on the way to Cambridge, is a good place for kids, and has a water aprk.

And four year olds love the waterpark at Ontario Place.

Centerville, on Toronto Island, is the best amusement park for little kids.

And she'll probably think it's cool to buy lunch from a truck, of which there are usually several in front of Toronto City Hall, across the street from the Sheraton Centre Hotel. (Large quantities, so she'll probably share with a grown-up)

Nearest playground to the downtown hotels: Grange Park, off McCaul Street at the top of John Street, and immediately behind the Art Gallery of Ontario and beside the Ontario College of Art and DEsign, which she'll think is a funny looking building.

Delta chelsea with kids -mine loved it -loads of kids there -dragged out howling at 9pm..and I was sent to Toronto stores with a beeper for the day-worlds best kid hotel! Good rooms-v.big and allround good hotel
