Subway @ Toronto Airport
Can you catch the subway at (Pearson?) airport in Toronto. Won't have a lot of luggage, but will have a couple small pieces. Heading downtown to hotel. Have taken the El from Midway (Chicago) to downtown and it was easy and cheap.

The subway doesn't go that far west, but I remember that there used to be a bus that connected with the subway. I checked the TTC website (www.ttc.ca) and they have a frequently asked questions section. There's something in there about connections to the subway using Go transit - apparently it stops at the airport.

There is a bus that runs from the airport to the ISLINGTON subway station (which is on the main (Bloor-Danforth) West to East subway line. There is also a bus that runs to the YORKDALE subway station (on one of the North to South subway lines) Which bus is better for you depends on the location of your hotel. But either bus gets you to the subway system which is what you want.

Hi Christian,
You can take a bus and subway from Pearson airport to downtown Toronto. I do it all the time but it is nowhere near as convenient as the el from O'Hare to downtown Chicago. At Pearson airport you can get the 192 bus which takes you to the Kipling subway station. It costs $2.25 Canadian to board the bus and you must have exact change (no bills or pennies.) The bus drops you off at the first subway stop (or the last depending on how you look at it.) The transfer to the subway is free. Total travel time from the airport to downtown is at least 1 hour (you can wait up to 20 minutes for the bus, the ride is about 15 or 20 minutes to the subway and then it's about 30 minutes to downtown.) You'll have no problems with a couple of small pieces of luggage. If you can spare the extra time then this is a great way to go and save money. There is also the Airport Express bus that leaves directly from the airport and drops you off at various locations downtown, it takes about 45 minutes depending on traffic and costs about $14 Canadian. A cab takes about 35 minutes or so and costs about $40 Canadian. Have fun.

All I can add to the above postings is that the whole process is much easier than it sounds. At the airport, the first person I asked directed me to the 192 bus stop and reminded me that I needed exact change, $2.25 CAD. The transfer to the subway was painless also.

The return to Pearson, in the pouring rain, was easy as well. Overall, a great way to save some money getting to and from the airport
