We are going to see "Oliver" in Stratford in September, and intend to stay overnight.Recommendations re bed and breakfast accommodation would be appreciated - also any tips on good luncheon establishments!

Thanks

As I always mention, I am in the accommodations industry in Stratford so do not comment on B&Bs, but would be happy to give some ideas for lunch.

What are you looking for? Something light? Hearty? Fine dining or casual?

I'm seeing Oliver! tomorrow and am very excited. Can't help with B&B's but can recommend a number of restaurants.

Pazzo.....Italian fare, bistro downstairs has wonderful oven baked pizzas, antipastos and salads

Keystone Alley cafe....casual but always good

Church restaurant.....Very upscale but a wonderful experience. The Belfy upstairs in the Church has a varied lunch menu and will give you a glimpse of the beautiful building.

Down the Street Cafe....casual, crowded but good fare

Bijou.....there's both a restaurant and cafe. The restaurant was wonderful, with unusual combinations and gorgeous presentation....more pricey too.

The Sunroom....laid back cafe with more traditional meals. Bright cheery atmosphere.

Lots of good shops as well so be sure and browse!

Something light for lunch would be appropriate, and your input would be most appreciated.

Thank you for your interest.

Dear Tobie T.
You will by now have seen 'OLIVER". I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
I have already seen it once and loved it so much that I just had to see it again!
Thank you for your information regarding the restaurants.

TobieT had done a good job describing the restaurants in town. I would recommend any of those he (she?) mentioned without hesitation.

A couple of other newer restaurants to consider for a light lunch...

Bella Della- a bakery cafe... the perfect spot for a glass of wine and a salad or sandwich.
www.belladella.ca

Globe- one of the Festival 'hot spots', this restaurant has a small plates, or tapas menu.

And finally, one more good old stand by... The York Street Kitchen. Eat in here or take a sandwich to go to enjoy by the river.

A little tip about choosing a Stratford restaurant. Except for Bella Della, all the restaurants have websites that truly reflect the restaurant itself. (Bella Della's tacky website just doesn't do the restaurant justice...) If the website doesn't appeal to you, the restaurant probably won't either.
