Am disappointed that no one so far has responded to advice on good restaurants in Quebec City. I know it is a popular vacation spot and yet no one seems to have any suggestions for fine dining in the city or around the area.
Hope someone out there can help!!
Thanks in advance,
jjashworth

i wasnt sure how to just email them to you but I just topped two threads with lots of restaurant suggestions.
Hope you find that helpful. We visited in april and ate at Parmesan but I wouldnt really recommend it.

There is a fabulous restaurant where we had the most sensational food ever called L'Initiale. We went with the chef's prix fixe menu and did the wine pairings with it. Absolutely out of this world. We have recommended it to others and they felt the same way. It is in Old town. Another restaurant we didn't try but came highly recommended was Le Saint Amour. I don't think you can go wrong in any restaurant in that city!!!

St.Amour is my hubands and my favourite restaurant in not only Quebec but the world. It is the only real fine dining restaurant I have tried in QC but I've been there several times and loved it.

Keeping in mind I am not a gourmond and am probably not the best judge, I really enjoyed Anciens Canadiens a block or so from the Chateau Frontenac. I am told it features traditional Quebec fare and, on my two visits, was very, very good.

Thank you all for responding. I feel that we have many choices and in Quebec City I think we will have no trouble finding wonderful restaurants.

My perception of QC eateries that had it been warmer than 18(F) degrees and without a howling wind, I probably couldn't go wrong if choosing a place for dining near the Chateau Frontenac and up the same street it is on.

You have to remember, those restaurants aren't exactly serving "Canadian Cuisine". It's when you're in Whitehorse or Iqaluit or La Ronge that you have to take a chance on the food without too many suitable options.
