Somewhere to stay on way to Toronto

Landing in Detroit from the U.K. on Sept 28 the plane lands around 5:30P.M. By the time we rent the car clear customs etc it might be too late for me to drive all the way ot TO
Anyone have any suggestions as to where to spend the night along the way. Thanks.

There are lots of motels in Chatham and London. At exit 109 (109 km from Windsor) there is a Travelodge on the south side of highway 401. I have stayed there once and it was OK. Also sent friends from UK there and I heard no complaints.

London would be an ideal place to stay. It's about half way to Toronto and the only fairly large city on the way.
If you did want to get a bit further , you could get to Cambridge.

Oops. I meant to type Econolodge not Travelodge. Yesterday I noticed that there is a Ramada just off 401 in Milton.

Arriving 5:30 p.m. - if you are on the road by 6:30 p.m. - it is no more than 5 hours to Toronto.

I agree with other posts. Long stretch of nothing along that route. LONDON is the biggest city you'll come to enroute & should be able to find something there.

Don't get discouraged by the "long stretch of nothing" - you'll love Toronto and surrounding areas. If never been here before, travel outside the city as well (north especially ) to see more of Ontario than just the big city.
