Marko, We've had such a dry summer in B.C. We know we are due for rain soon. Most likely in Oct, Nov. which means great snow on the Mountains. Last winter was awesome. We had such agreat snow pack we had no worries for water this past dry summer. I heard that 30% of the properties at Big White were owned by Aussies. That's a long way to go to ski. Lucky we just have a 2 hour drive to Whistler. Have a great season

84 cm mid-mountain Whistler late this afternoon! Whoo hoo, the season opens on the 18th and I think our local Cypress Mountain opens tomorrow!
OTOH, my husband is rushing back to Bowen Island (just outside Vancouver) tonight (ferry now running, after being broke' yet again). Ten trees down on our property and our neighbour's. No hydro, tel, cable, everything's been ripped out on our side of the island. And more heavy rains and major winds tomorrow. Yuck.

Sorry to hear that Linda. Would you believe that yesterday here in Queensland (yes tropical Queensland) we had light snow in the higher areas ! One ski reort in Victoria (Australia not BC) had more snow the night before last than they did for the entire winter ! ...and it is late spring here ! Crazy

I am surprised but don't fret - lots of time yet but here is the latest from Silver Star - Big White can't be too far behind! "Silver Star will be open Thursday November 23 with a 70cm alpine base. The Summit, Silver Queen Chairs and Discover Carpet will be operating with 7+ runs open. Depending on snow, we will open more runs and lifts when it is safe to do so. Good news - day tickets are half price until the Comet Chair opens!
Mother Nature is blessing us with tons of the white stuff and the weather guru’s are calling for flurries for the next 4 days! Should make for some great opening conditions! Check out our web cams for the most honest, up-to-date conditions & visit the snow report for regular updates." Not too shabby!

Oh Marko
You will be happy to know that on this friday night, the snow is falling in kelowna. I have about 5 cm on my lawn, and I just had to put the Christmas lights on outside tonight.
Andre and the kids went up to Silverstar on opening day yesterday. Said the snow was decent for early season, and they were suprised at how many people were there. I think they were hoping to have the hill to themselves.
Anyways, if this keeps up the season should be great.

Marko, about 175 cm mid-mountain at Whistler/Blackcomb, and our local Vancouver mountains. Eldest son boarded Grouse today - mucho bueno! And it's snowing at sea level in West Van as we speak. A great start to the season!
