Skiing near Montreal or Quebec first week of April?
Hello,
We are debating whether its worth going on a family skiing trip first week of April to French Canada. We live in NYC and will be driving there. Our kids are 6 and 3 yo and it will be their first ski vacation. We know its very late in season so wondering, what are the chances there still be enough (or any) snow to ski... Thank you!

Easter Sunday is March 31 this year, so even with snow on the slopes the ski centers might close for the season.
Usually, in the Montreal area, St.Saveur stays open as long as possible, sometimes into May, but it is not really the type of skiing that I would plan a vacation for.
Mt. Tremblant will probably have snow, especially on the North side.
In the Quebec City area the North side of Mt. Ste. Anne is your best chance for decent skiing, even in April.
Depending on the temps ski centers might choose to open on weekends only.
This site (in French only) is the best source of info about ski conditions in Quebec.

Should be snow ( they make alot) as they will try and stretch out the ski season until at least Easter weekend March 29th 2013, and beyond. It may be spring skiing but thats a chance you take at end of season. Since its usually bitter cold there, its nice when its not frigid and I have enjoyed the spring skiing there. Also you could run into maple syrup season, a plus to see a sugar shack

I booked our tix to Montreal - I will try to book a refundable hotel in Mont Tremblant and if there is no snow we can always stay in Montreal.
Any opinions on hotels in Mont Tremblant village? The reviews on TA are really inconsistent in the top hotels!

I would recommend the Homewood Suites by Hilton. I stayed there last year and all was great. Breakfast is included and easy access to the gondola. Super clean rooms and we were upgraded to a loft suite with no additional charge as they weren't full when we stayed

We are arriving late at night in Montreal and want to stay near the airport and drive up to MT in the morning.
Is it possible to take a shuttle to an airport hotel and then go back in the morning to rent a car or should be just get the car that night and find a hotel close to the highway.

The airline crews stay at the Holiday Inn Pointe-Claire, about a 10 to 15 minutes shuttle ride.
Other hotels nearby are the Sheraton, Quality Inn, Crowne Pointe, ALoft, Best Western and a few other that I can't remember even though I am at YUL ten times a week.
