Hi I asked this in another post but wasn't sure anyone would see it.<BR>How safe is it to walk around the Sheraton at night. I will be coming home from the theatre and wasn't sure if it would be ok to walk from the subway stop. Are the subways safe at night and how about the PATH? Can you walk most places at night after a show?<BR>thanks

Cindy, I live in the city and am used to walking around after dinner or a theatre show. However, like most cities with large populations, you take the usual precautions. Always be aware of your surroundings. At night, after the office crowd has departed, I tend to stay away from PATH unless I'm accompanied by others. The Sheraton is well situated and there are several restaurants around the hotel. Enjoy and take care.

I too live in Toronto and rarely worry about walking around at night after a show or dinner. Like the previous poster said, just be alert, like you would be anywhere. Subway is safe at night. Personally I'm not crazy about the PATH - I find it confusing unless I know exactly where I'm heading. It's much easier to make your way above ground. One afternoon, when it was pouring rain, I decided to go undergound. I remember wandering around for 10 minutes or so, coming back up and finding that I was kitty corner to where I had started!

Tutu,<BR>Right thanks. I wasn't sure if your PATH was like NYC's subway which I'm not comfortable using late at night. I know many New Yorkers are fine with it but I tend to perfer street level and cabs at night. Do you offer the same advice after a show with the streetcars and your subway?

Toronto's PATH is a network of shop-lined tunnels joining the lower levels of major office complexes in the downtown core. There is no reason to use it late at night as everthing is closed. It may not even be open. I never worry about safety at night when downtown at night on the street or subway.

I recently walked back to the Sheraton from Mama Mia on a Saturday Night and I can tell you the streets are pretty busy at theat time. Except for maybe a pickpocket I wouldn't worry too much. There are side streets along the way that I would reccomend you avoid and head back via the main streets. Of course if the weather is lousy even if you're close you might want to take a cab. After a show there are lots around.

Thank you. That's exactly what I needed to hear. So even if I go to see mousetrap I could still use the subway to get back to the Shearton.

I live in Toronto and I've walked around many parts of the city at night, sometimes by myself and I feel much more threatened when I'm in a pub surrounded by the beer-drinking university crowd as oppossed to walking down a dark alley at 2am. Like anywhere, there are muggings and robberies, etc. but they are very few.

I am also from the city, and I feel very comfortable at night, walking in the downtown area. Never have had any problems. I even use the subways at night, and again, nothing to worry about. Toronto is a great city, people are out at all hours, so u should never feel threatened, to go out on your own.
