romantic Banff Hotels

The husband and I are thinking of a weekend getaway to Banff for our first wedding anniversary and would wanted to know if anyone had some romantic hotels to recommend. (not the Banff Springs though)..something a little rustic, maybe with a fireplace and such.

Everytime we go to banff its to go camping and we have no idea what the hotels have to offer.

Thanks

hartsj9 - I thought you would certainly get a number of great recommendations, but it seems not. We are not experts here, but thought our stay at Deer Lodge (actually at Lake Louise) was very special. There are a couple of sister properties as well, and they may interest you.

Baker Creek Chalet. It's closer to Lake Louise than Banff, you have a choice of lodge accommodation or cabin accommodation, both types have kitchens/kitchenettes although there is also a dining room on site, it is in a pretty wooded area by a creek (explains the name) - very romantic. We've stayed there for our anniversaries and loved it.

This may come way too late for your travel plans, but hands down the property that meets all your requirements (rustic, romantic, etc) is the Storm Mountain Lodge. Its located about 1/2 hour or so from Banff at the top of a mountain pass between there and Radium. Small property, luxe log cabins, and world class dining room.
