Please help with BC itinerary order...
Am trying to finalize my plans.
Does one way seem smarter than the other, or does it not really matter...
1. Vancouver -- Victoria -- Tofino -- Desolation Sound -- Vancouver
OR
2. Vancouver -- Desolation Sound -- Tofino -- Victoria -- Vancouver
thanks!

Hmmm .......
That's a tricky question.
Often people ask about Vancouver - Victoria - Tofino - Whistler - Vancouver versus the other way round.
In that case I like to suggest that people make Whistler their last stop, especially if they are planning to drive from their last stop to the airport on the day of their departure (that is, without a night in Vancouver prior to flying home). Although the ferries usually are reliable, and it would be rare for a late ferry or a disabled ferry to be the cause of someone's missing their flight, I like to play it safe. So I think people are wise to spend their last night on the mainland if they are flying out of Vancouver.
In your case your last stop before your return to Vancouver will involve a ferry ride regardless of which direction you travel in. I don't know if you plan to spend your last night in Vancouver or not. However, getting from Victoria to Vancouver involves only one ferry ride, while getting from Desolation Sound to Vancouver involves TWO ferry rides. So, for that reason alone, I think it probably would be safer to make Victoria your last stop before your return to Vancouver.

We were definitely going to stay the night in Vancouver before we left for home.
so was thinking it was a shorter to drive after arriving to Victoria than to Desolation Sound. Is there another reason to do it the other way?
(Already been to Whistler and loved it!)
thanks, Judy.

Yes, dina4, it's true that it's shorter to drive to Victoria when you land in Vancouver. If you're planning to spend your last night in Vancouver, I would say the Vancouver - Victoria - Tofino - Desolation Sound - Vancouver direction is better.
