Part Montreal, Part ?? 9 days
We would like to visit Montreal in August with our 3 kids ages 10, 8 and 6. We would love to spend 3 or 4 days exploring the city and then some days near a lake or hiking. Our kids love bike riding, hiking, swimming, etc. Any suggestions for places to start our search?

Hi jenfromnj,
I'd recommend researching the Eastern Townships area or the Laurentians. The Mont-Tremblant area, Sainte-Agathe area and Magog areas will have all that you seek. You may want to consider heading up Quebec City and checking out the Charlevoix region with that amount of time (whale-watching possible!).
Best wishes, Daniel

We were just there last month. It was my first time in Quebec.
I would definitely recommend staying a couple nights in Quebec City. We took a really nice walking tour. I fell in love with both QC and Montreal. Absolutely loved Montreal. You're lucky to go. People are so nice. Great food. I would go back in a heartbeat if I could.

The eastern townships have several lakes, hiking trails, paved bike trails and the Granby Zoo. Bromont would make a nice base, as it's close to Granby, has hiking trails,a water park and lots of bike trails. Sutton and Magog are also nice little towns.

We've just left Quebec with our 14 yr old- you can read my trip report on this forum.
Liked Montreal but loved Quebec City more and the Saguenay region even more again. There were bike trails everywhere we went and hiking trails to die for.
The Eastern townships were nice but not quite as exciting for the kids.
