Owens Sound Area Resort Town

Is there are town any where around the Ownes Sound area that is anything remotely like Niagara on the Lake? My girlfriend absolutely LOVED Niagara on the Lake, but she also loves waterfalls. The Owens Sound area has tons of them and I want to propose to her at one of them!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Greg

There are no towns like that near Owen Sound. However there are romantic places. Southampton and Port Elgin have the best sunsets, and are within an hour. A bit further is Bayfield which has quaint shops, good resaurants and a romantic inn.

Owen Sound is my home town and although the area has many charms there is nothing nearby like Niagara on the Lake.

Exploring the Niagara Escarpment will bring you to a few waterfalls - the best known and easiest to access is Inglis Falls just outside Owen Sound.
regards

Although it is a little late in the summer season, Tobermory has a certain amount of maritime village charm, that appeals to a lot of people, though it would be quite a stretch to compare it to N-O-T-L. It about a 1 1/2 hour drive north of Owen Sound. My wife and I always go there to celebrate our anniversary, and eat at the Grandview, overlooking the Little Tub harbour, and watching the Chi-cheemaun ferry come in, just before the SPECTACULAR sunsets.......

Thank you all again for your input. I ended up deciding on Niagara-on-the-lake because after a little research I found there are also several smaller waterfalls in the area. In other words, I am going to be a prude and go to the fancy pretty place.

We will be getting to the Owens Sound area though and the informatio will be of great help.

Inglis Falls in Owen Sound is a great place to visit. Kincardine and Goderich (an hour and an hour and a half south respectively) are your best bits for quaintness in the region. THey are both lakeside towns that have put alot of work into downtown and shoreline beautification. Southampton, a half hour from Owen Sound is similar as well though smaller. Those three towns would make a good little sidetrip from Owen Sound though.
