Gina, yes the tulips are blooming. It has been a cool spring and the tulips are later than normal. Just starting to come in this weekend so should be at their best next weekend for the end of the tulip festival.

Hope you make it next year.

Frankly, I think all of the hotels in Ottawa are satisfactory with the exception of the HOWARD JOHNSON. I booked there for last weekend and I checked right out. It is the worst hotel I have ever seen.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Lord Elgin on Elgin Street. Very good hotel,you can do a circular walk from the 1914-18 war memorial ( anti clockwise) it takes in most of the principal sights including the museum of civilisation which is a must.Lots of good eats in the market area and on Elgin St; Ottawa is GREAT.
