One afternoon/night in Calgary.

Hi, all. Haven't been here for some time, but remember all the good info I could get. We are pre-extending a tour of the Nat'l Parks, arriving in Calgary (beginning point) at noon the day before the tour starts. Will probably be at our hotel (Westin Calgary) around 2, kinda tired from early am arrival at our departure airport. Have looked at several web sites, and we can't get a handle on "must see" things for just that few hours in the afternoon. Maybe some of you would have some ideas. (I'll rent a car if it is way important.) We are in 70's, cannot do a lot of walking.
Also, being foodies of sorts, we would love some dining recommendations, perhaps with views of something.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What are your tastes ? When I visited Calgary once for my work I dined a River Cafe. It's near Prince's Island park. You can check them on google.

You could start your visit at Fort Calgary and then continue walking along the river to Prince's Island Park or take a taxi/transportation to Calgary Tower.

Going up the Calgary Tower is a fun way to see the views of the city as well as the mountains in the distance, and has some fun Canadian stuffed animal mascots such as bears in Mountie uniforms etc. you can have your photo taken with.

River Café is an excellent choice of restaurant, and you could finish off your afternoon/evening taking a lovely walk in Prince's Island Park and along the river (which use to be my back garden!). The Fairmont Palliser hotel has a beautiful bar located on the ground floor and moments from the Calgary Tower.

Thank you both. Yes I had scoped out River Cafe, and was pleased to see confirmation. Unfortunately, our Dr just told my wife that she should not travel, so we had to cancel the trip. Sad. Trip Insurance is good.
So all you young travelers out there, go while you can. While your knees and heart and back still work good. You know that movie, "What if this is as good as it gets?" Yep!!
