Old Montreal 3 days

We are going to Old Montreal in late June. We are staying at the Hotel Nelligan on a package which includes dinner at Verses.

We like great food. We heard about Europea being the best French restaurant. Anybody been there? If so, any comments.

We were thinking of Joe Beef but heard a lot of negative about the way they treat their guests.

Thanks in advance for your response.

Never heard that europea was the best but good and of course the flagship montreal restaurant but you will need to reserve today is Toque www.restaurant-toque.com

However we are second only to new york for concentration of five star restaurants per capita, take a chance stroll down and around St. Paul in old Montreal there are hundreds of lovely bistros, chez queux, la maree and about a thousand more...

You go to the Chabanel district if you want to shop in old buildings, looking in bins for bargains on designer clothing. You may find excellent (and somethimes spectacular deals) but its quite a hassle to know in which building (and on which floor!) each brand can be found. I would not recommend it.

I hope I am not too late with a restaurant recommendation - La Brunoise on the corner of St. Andre and Roy in the Plateau area. In a word - outstanding!
