There's a canal that connects Okanagan Lake (on the north side of Penticton) to Skaha Lake (on the south side of Penticton). There's always people floating on tube on that canal in the summer and it seems to be popular, but I've never done it. Here's some information I found:

Last summer another mom and I floated the canal twice, both times with four teenagers. While there were lots of teens and 20-somethings, there were also many, many floaters from 0 to 80'ish. I don't think anyone would feel out of place.
And wait 'til you see what people are floating on!
We floated half-way down the first time, and the full distance the second. Half-way was the unanimous vote of our group.

thanks...if we only floated half way, how do we get back? we'll have a few vehicles so park one half way? where would that be?
we are all in our 40-50's but this sounds like something we sisters would enjoy.

You've got the idea, ltt - leave 1 car half-way, ride back up with the 2nd car to the start, park that, and everyone hop on their mattresses/tubes/whatever. If you decide not to do the two-car maneouver, if I remember correctly, there is a canal bus that will take you back to the start.
It is verrry hot in the Okanagan in the summer so remember to take a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, perhaps a shirt if you burn easily, and something to drink. Have fun!
