NS, PEI and NF in 11 days - ???

Though ambitious,I think there is a way to see Halifax, PEI and St. John's in Newfoundland in 11 days.
I'm ready for a reality check fropm you!
My wife and I depart August 14th from Newark, a direct, short flight to Halifax. We then have the 15th and 16th to see the city, Peggy's Cove, etc.
I have rented a car for early departure to PEI (about a five hour trek) on the 17th, staying there that night, the next day and night, then a return ride on the 19th to Halifax via the scenic route. It will be difficult to bypass Cape Breton, it being so close. Is it possible to fit it?
On the 19th, we have reservations on the 4:55 PM flight to St. John, NF, and will spend 4 nights there, flying back to Halifax the early afternoon of the 23rd. Saturday the 24th is our return direct flight to Newark at 8:30 AM.
Interesting fact: Our roundtrip airfare from Newark is less than $200.00 each. The round trip to St. John's(NF)is $350.00 each.
Help:! We don't have reservations yet in PEI or St. John's (we just decided this past weekend to go for it!) Any last minute recommendations?
How does the itineray look?

Thank you.

Ken & Frances Dunn
PS The combined flight time from New York (Newark) to St. John's (NF) is about 3 hours doing it this way. We originally tried to book a flight from New York to Newfoundland and were told it would be 6 hours! Thank God for the internet.

You can do this itinerary,, but you will then miss NS...I would skip PEI and just do NS...PEI is nice, but really it is a flat red island. I would go the cape breton instead. I have been to both and believe that cape breton is the most beautiful place on earth. I am from New Brunswick so I am not biased. I have not been to NF yet, but I guess it is amazing. You should visit France while you are there. I guess a short ferry ride to St. Pierre and Micqilon (sp?)

It is a four hour drive to the ferry terminal at Fortune, and then a two hour ferry to St. Pierre & Miquelon.
Hi, Ken & Frances! Yes, your itinerary is very ambitious. One thing to keep in mind is that your 5 hr. trek to PEI cld. turn into a lot longer if you run into delays @ the ferry. Basically you will only be in PEI for one day (Aug 18th) & then you will be up very early the next morning to drive back to Hfx. I am wondering why you don't fly from Charlottetown to St. John's instead of undertaking all that driving back to Hfx.

I wld. skip Nfld & focus on NS & PEI. Heck! if it were me, I'd spend the entire time in NS w/ the primary focus being Cape Breton.

I think you can see all 3 provinces in 11 days, especially since you're flying into St. John's. The only part I'm unsure about is the drive from Halifax to PEI, as I've never done it. But 4 days in St. John's will be fine (that's where I live), you'll be able to see the sights and experience true newfie culture.

If you'd like hotel, restaurant, or tourism recommendations, email me, i'd be glad to help out!

christy<BR
