Novotel if it's the one on the Esplanade- closer to the market (for breakfast), other restaurants and everything else for a weekend.

Much depends on your dates but there's a great promotional rate till late summer at a new hotel right downtown...Suites at 1 King West. I stayed a couple weeks ago and enjoyed it. Good location and amenities. King beds, and the rooms are going for as little as $129 CAD. See what you think:

Novotel Esplanade. That ref to 1 King West looks intersting too. Also try Holiday Inn on King.

Agree on the Novotel Esplanade - close to the market for great breakfasts or lunch, also there was an excellent Irish pub just across the street (unless it has closed) that had good food, good beer, and good live Irish music. It is a nice hotel. Surely must be better than the Days Inn unless Canadian Days Inns are not the dumps they are in the States. We like the Novotel a lot.

yes, skip he DI. If that Novotel is on The Esplanade, one side faces the lake - and a major highway about 3' from the hotel. If you get the Lake view, be sure it is high up, or else take the North - city view - and you will have peace when you want to sleep. This is not a city of moderately priced hotels, so your rate sounds good.I notice there

There is a Holiday inn express on Lombard st. at $122. (cdn). Go to their site. Lombard is v. central & should be quiet - have never been in the hotel - they change names so quickly, by the time you get out of the parking lot, it is a Marriot, or Days inn or Mr. Submarine.

Yes, ask for a city view room - cousin from England stayed there a few years ago and was happy with it - she was on the city side.

The Lombard Holiday Express although just a few blocks from the Novotel isn't as good a choice as the Novotel - it's on Jarvis Street and while it gets lots of vehicular traffic especially during the week, I'd prefer to be on the Esplanade on a weekend.
