Northern Lights
I'm not even sure where to post this. Maybe I'll put it here and in Europe...
If you wanted to take a trip to see the Northern Lights, if that was the #1 priority of your trip, where would you go, and when?
I'd really like to see the Northern Lights but I have read they are unpredictable. It would be nice to pick a place where there was a high likelihood of seeing them but was otherwise interesting in case they don't appear.
Any ideas?

I recommend to visit a region close to the ploar circle.
The regions (northern Yukon) offer a short term forecast.

The months with highest prop. are end Sept/October and March. I can also recommend trips towards Northern Europe. The aurora whatching is better organized in Europe and you can reach the region very easy. Check the trips towards Kiruna (Sweden), Ivalo (Finland) and Kittilä (Finland).

Yellowknife NWT is recognized as one of the best places in the world for watching the Aurora as it is located directly under the aurora oval. A number of companies run tours throughout the season (September to April) and many Japanese tourists in particular come to Yellowknife to take in the sight.
