Niagara on the Lake Accommodations needed in early Oct

I looked through our Fodor's Toronto 2010 guide for a moderate priced room for two for mid Oct.

By moderate priced, I mean about $175 including taxes.Fodor's has only one listing that meets my requirements and their cons do not make it an attractive choice.

I did a bit of research on previous Fodorites' choices, but they seem a bit dated.

Anyone have any suggestions for me? BTW, I prefer not to stay in a room that looks like an eight year old's bedroom with a canopy bed and lots of frills.
thanks very much for any help you can offer.

Thank you, irecommend. I did try the website you recommended, but there are tons of places and it's so confusing. I must admit I fatigued after a while. So many of the moderate priced places looked so tacky. I, also went on Trip Advisor.

I always went by trip advisor. I stayed at a nice B&B in Niagara on the Lake called the Graystone B&B, I'd recommend it. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...e_Ontario.html

I also recommend the Villa Alexandria in Niagara Falls (walking distance to the falls). I really liked that one as well.

Thanks, amelie. Graystone looks very nice AND affordable. I would have to readjust my dates to stay there. I'll run this by my husband. Thanks again.

Amelie, the reviews on trip advisor were wonderful. We decided to go with Graystone. The owner sounds very accommodating on the telephone. Thanks again.

No problem, I'm sure you will love it, especially breakfast! It's also a short walk to town and yes the host was very friendly. Have fun
