niagara on the lake

Looking to go to Niagara on the Lake for a girls weekend. Can you please tell me what inns offer the best location to night life, shopping etc. but are also near or on the water? Want to use our car as little as possible. Thanks.

I'd be surprised if there's any night life in Niagara on the Lake other than the Shaw Festival. The town is so small that really any location is convenient. Queen's Landing is right on the river.

Does this mean that they dont have any bars at Niagara on the Lake??? What about Niagara Falls, would that possibly be a better location for a girls weekend?

Where are you coming from? Unless your "girls" are "golden girls", NOTL seems like an odd choice for a "girls' weekend"!
NOTL is an historic town bursting @ the seams in summer w/ tourists. It has a fudge shop & other "little shops". A lot of people go there for the theatre ( Shaw Festival) & dinner. It has a decent golf course (oldest in Canada I think I read somewhere). But I don't think it has any bars...at least not the kind that wld conjure up images of "night life" for a girls' weekend! Also, I wld never go to NOTL to shop....Toronto, Montreal....but not NOTL. Montreal wld be an amazing place for a "girls weekend"!

Thanks for the info. I guess I should be more specific. We are in our late 30"s and just looking for a fun, charming place to go. Dont want loud, rowdy nightlife but a place to go and sit and have few drinks.

ok, then NOTL will be fine for you. Queen's Landing is a nice hotel. I like Oban Inn dining room. When are you going? Things will be livelier in the summer.

You should headquarter the girls at the Niagara FallsView Resort and Casino, there you will find tons of fun things plus a bit of gambling and nitelife... plan on taking at least one wine tour and a day at Niagara-on the Lake which is only 15 minutes from the Fallsview...

NOTL is a great couples location but is wonderful for walking around, seeing a show, or eating, but a group of women may be pressed to find much fun after 9pm when everyone else is in their rooms snuggling(if you know what I mean!!!)

Queen's Landing would be a lovely spot if what you're after is "charming" and a place to have drinks. It also has a spa, a patio overlooking the water and is close enough to walk to everything. We've stayed several times and always enjoyed it.

But, if "night life" beyond the Theatre is a requirement, then Niagara Fallsview Resort would be great fun. Have a look at some of the entertainment offered at the Avalon Ballroom for your dates. It's a wonderful venue.
