Niagara Falls Package -Courtyard by Marriot
I have booked the 2 night package to the Courtyard by Marriot in Niagara Falls. It includes a $45.00 dinner voucher for either The Keg Steakhouse or TGIF. Has anyone eaten at either? I have read some reviews and The Keg Steakhouse seems to be chosen over TGIF. I have read that both are very expensive. Any comments on either restaurant.

Well I would choose the Keg over TGIF Friday's. Friday's is just a typical chain found everywhere. It's not expensive, but I bet at the Falls they up the prices. The Keg is expensive, but I have only eaten at the Toronto one years ago so I can't really comment. I believe there are two Keg restaurants? One with views and one without. I'm sure others will clarify and chime in for you.

I think there are two Keg restaurants. The one OP mentions is at the Courtyard. The other one is at the Embassy Suites with an outstanding view of the Horseshoe Falls -- if you can get those tables. I was at the Embassy Suites one on Saturday this month and I was told that the tables with view were by first come basis only. The $45 voucher would probably cover less than half the full dinner for two at the Keg.

There is a Keg onsite at the Courtyard (Victoria Ave.) and TGI Friday's is almost beside it. I would presume your pkg intends dining at those locations. The other newer Keg is in the Embassy Suites on Fallsview. As nickn said $45 will only cover half the price of dinner at The Keg, but food and service is vastly better. TG's is fine, but is your basic roadhouse fare and atmosphere. I don't think there is different pricing at different Keg locations, but ask when you check as to where your voucher can be used.

My one experience with TGIF was negative - and I would say the Keg is a "much" better choice and value. Once we asked the Courtyard if we could use voucher at the other (Embassy Suites) Keg and they said no. Menus are the same (or at least used to be, haven't eaten at Couryard for a couple years) and having eaten at both locations a number of times, I can't say that I have noticed differences in the food quality, although the view and setting of the other Keg is nicer (and is much larger). That restaurant is terraced so even if you don't get a window seat, you may get at least a partial view - that is, assuming the mist isn't blocking it out which sometimes happens.
Did you look into the Embassy Suites as a place to stay? They often offer an almost identical package with the same $45 certificate & free breakfast (there is a TGIF as well as a Keg at that location also).
