niagara falls

We want to take a road trip up to Niagara Falls from central NJ. It is about an 8 hour ride. Any suggestions on where we might stop along the way to break up the drive, maybe stay overnight somewhere both driving up and back? How many days would we need to see the area once we arrive?

You only need 1-2 days max.

Consider Watkins Glen, Seneca Falls, Cooperstown, Ithaca, Corning, Letchworth, or any Finger lakes destination as about Half way... depending on your interests, all provide activities and natural attractions... let us know what you like and we can fine tune your stop...

Is late October too late in the year to visit that area? I really dropped the ball on this one!

This has been a bad year for fall color... the dry summer and wind have cleared some trees before they changed... there may be some color left in late October, especially if you cut across southern NY on I86/rt 17... its not too late for a Niagara visit...
