New Year's Eve in Montreal- Suggestions, etc.

I will be in Montreal with my husband for New Year's Eve. It is a 3 day trip, leaving New Year's Day.
Any suggestions for classy bars/lounges/hotels for celebrations? We aren't looking for a wild night, but something fun (romantic, kinda quiet ok, too.)
We are having dinner at Bonaparte. Any thoughts on this place?
Does anyone know if anything is open on New Year's Day or are most places/things closed down?
FYI, We are staying in the Plateau Mont Royal area. Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks...

I don't know about NYE but we stayed at the Hotel Nelligan last winter and loved the bar there. It was packed with an after work crowd and had a good atmosphere. It's in Vieux Montreal.

Bonaparte is very nice. Quiet and good service, good food.
We were in the Plateau area in August, it is lovely but I didn't notice any nightspot kind of places.
It will be sooo cold
Happy New Year, I love Montreal~

The plateau area is perhaps the liveliest part of the city. There are lots of clubs, bars, etc on St. Laurent by Prince Arthur St., and also on St. Denis above Sherbrooke.

ACK! I hate it when I offer advice and don't know what I am talking about!
zootsie, I was thinking of Outremont! I want to live there
St Denis and the Plateau area are very lively!
I wish I could have dinner tonight at my favorite L'Expresse!
