Need insect repellant in late August in Rockies?
We are off the Canadian Rockies in a couple of weeks time. I'm assuming (hoping!) that the main mosquito season will be over but was wondering if we will need insect repellant at that time of year.
Thanks

By late August, the night-time temperature may be hovering around the freezing mark, or not much above it. There will not be very many mosquitoes around. Even now, you'll generally only find them in the forest in damp/wet areas.

Just returned from the Canadian Rockies. Took 2 spray cans of insect repellant and never used it. Saw a couple of mosquitos but no bites. 4 people there for 8 nights from Canmore to Jasper and no bites. Can't hurt to pack some though. Better to have it and not have to buy it there.

The only time I've been to the Rockies was in late August, and we never noticed biting insects - mosquitos, flies, etc - ever. In fact, most of my summer vacationing in BC and Alberta has been in late August, and bugs were never an issue.
The only place where I remember being bitten alive in late August by mosquitos was in Puerta Vallerta, Mexico!
