Ottawa is about a 3 1/2 hour drive from Tremblant and Quebec city would be about 4. What I would personally recommend is that you go to Montreal. It is the closest city to Tremblant (about 1 1/2 hours away). there is so much to do there: shopping, museums, restaurants and the like. I can recommend many hotels but I have to know in which city.

Well we were planning on going to Montreal ONE night on the way to Mt. Tremblant anf the following day go to Mt. Tremblant for 3 days. One the way home to NJ I wanted to stop someway on the way back. I guess we could stop at Montreal again on the way back since many people tell me you will want more then one day. I was thinking also possibly Lake George but I read alot of negative about it so I'm almost changeing my mind now. Unless you stay at the Sagamore which we can't afford!Any ideas?? In Montreal we were looking at the Delta,Omni,Hilton or ???? We have two children and want to be in a nice area but a POOL is a MOST. Thank you all.

I believe I responded to another post of yours previously regarding this question about Niagara. I would again suggest Ottawa, as a very nice place to spend a few days, and to correct the previous poster, Ottawa is only 2 hours away from Tremblant, not 3 1/2. Montreal is definitely closer, but as you previously posted, you are staying there on your way up to Tremblant. Regarding Lake George, yes I would certainly recommend any of your suggested cities over Lake George. Although the lake itself is beautiful, the "town" is another tourist tacky type place at times, although for its own "character", I have enjoyed the odd vacation there. Whereas the cities you are selecting are exactly that, "cities", lots to do and see, versus a tourist town like Lake George. Happy travels!
PS: of course you already know this but your dollar sure goes a lot further here in Canada than in the US; that alone would make ME opt for Ottawa/Montreal over Lake George!!

Sherry,

Thank you for answering my post twice! I can't even find the other.I don't know where it went so I reposted. I will keep Ottawa in mind since it is only two hours away. I just thought Lake George would be a good stop on the way home to NJ.I've heard so much negative at Lake George except for the Sagamore which we can't stay there at those rates! I can't beleive there aren't any nice hotels except the Sagamore! Thanks

Any other suggestions from people or Hotels they stayed at???
Thank you

I would say the Delta hotel. Its in a good location, has very good facilities for kids (pools, excercise rooms and video game room) and the rooms are quite large. The omni is also a good choice as it is centrally located on Sherbrooke street and has a pool that you enter from indoors and then swim outdoors and you can do so comfortably even if it is cold outside. Also, I would also recommend going to lake george. I have been there many times and enjoyed it myself.

Thank you for responding to my question.I will decide on the Omni or Delta. They both have pools for the kids so I guess I will go with whichever one can give me a better price.Which one of the two are closer to OLD MONTREAL which I definetly want to see. Thanks

The Omni is right downtown. Montreal has two Delta's: one on President Kennedy and one near Place Bonaventure. The one near place bonaventure is the closest to Old Montreal. Also, Montreal has a relatively good, efficient and non-complicated subway system so you can get to Old Montreal from anywhere.
