Long layover and Ontario Science Centre

Long layover and Ontario Science Centre
We're thinking of scheduling a flight plan that includes a LONG (6.5 hour) layover at Pearson Airport. We're Americans traveling to Europe.
Will we have time to escape the airport, go to the Ontario Science Centre so our hobbits (who will be 4 and 1.5) can run off some steam, and get back by 2 hours before our transcontinental flight? How far is YYZ from the Science Centre?

Your kids may be too young for the Science Centre... it seems aimed at grade two and older... also it is about 30 miles from the Airport... perhaps you can run them around the terminal or one of our other posters can point you to a closer young kid park or attraction in the airport area...

What time do you land at Pearson. I would say that by the time you actually get out of the airport, and get a taxi to the Science Centre it could take an hour to get there.
SO that leaves you 3 1/2 hours..
BUT, the highway quite often is jammed packed, and if you are returning anytime after 3 pm, you could be taking a chance.
This highway is one of the busiest in North America.
I'm not sure I would chance it.

The Science Center is clear on the wrong side of town, unfortunately.
There's a section for little kids, but as mentioned earlier, for the most part, it appeals to kids already in school.
All is not lost.
Look up www.woodbinecentre.ca (notice the spelling of centre) on regular Google and again on Google Images.
It's an indoor shopping mall with a large indoor amusement park that's great for little kids. And it's just up the road from the airport.
Both children will find lots to do and have fun, as will the parent of the kids.
I've got three kids who all enjoyed Woodbine Centre while growing up.

If you are landing at 3 it could take you a couple of hours to get to the science centre. Not exactly a way for the hobbits to burn off some steam. Sitting in a taxi will not be much different for them than a plane .
I just came across the city on that highway and it was blocked solid .
BAK's idea of going to Woodbine centre is a good one .
