Jasper - Maligne Canyon

I'm planning on doing at least from the 5th bridge and possibly from the 6th bridge if time permits.

I'm a bit confused about the part from the 5th bridge to the 1st.

There appears to be 3 possible routes; #7, #7f, #7h and somewhere in there I think is #7g.

Any idea what's the difference? They appear to be more or less parallel.

Be aware that the 5th Bridge is in the process of being rebuilt - check the trail conditions to see when it will be re-opened. At the moment, there is no bridge across the river, which means that you can't access the trails from that parking area. You will have to start at 6th bridge.

The trails essentially run parallel - you probably want to stay on 7 which is the closest to the canyon. 7f runs higher up, while 7h does not go along the canyon.

Thanks for the heads up about the 5th bridge.

The 5th and 6th are close by car. So if there's no access to the 5th then we'll backtrack to the 6th and start from there.

I guess we could also start at the 1st bridge, going along #7 and return along #7h.

I'll be prepared that the 5th bridge may not exist.

The way that my DW and I did it was that she dropped me off at the 6th (upper) bridge. I took my time coming down. DW went to the bottom footbridge parking area and then hiked up about halfway where she sat and waited for me. We hiked down to the car together. She showed me some of the things she had spotted on her way up.
The "disappearing" lake up above is a good place to visit as well.
