The Lynn canyon bridge is the same as the Capilano bridge as far as the construction and the fun it is to walk over it. Capilano is very commercialized and of course you certainly have to pay - (a lot) to see it. If you had kids and wanted to spend a fair bit of time there it is one thing but for just the experience Lynn Canyon certainly is great.
AndrewDavid - I haven't been to the Lynn Canyon for a few years but at that time the path to the bridge was a little rugged so it depends on how agile your parents are. You certainly don't have to hike a long way and there are railings etc so I couldn't tell you whether it would be OK for them on not. There is nothing wrong with sightseeing on the North Shore and just go take a look and see what you think.
