We bought an intrawest timeshare yesterday but we have 10 day to back out...anybidy has experience making reservations with them....availability.

What sold it to us is that with 120 points we can have 3 weeks if we reserve within 45 days of travel...BUT, is this likely to work?

Any experience out there???????

Here's my advice:

I would immediately cancel it. There is no guarantee that the property will be available when you want it and how boring would it be to stay at the same place, every year, for three weeks. And I would bet that you spent a pretty penny...especially when you add the maintenance fees, etc. And what do you have to do to earn points? Isn't all the money that you put into it reason enough for you to get your three weeks? Unless you can give more concrete info, I would have to say DUMP IT NOW! The sellers always make it sound wonderful....did you actually eyeball the property or did they show you glamourous pics?

Get as much info as you can. A really good timeshare site is www.tug2.com or maybe .org...can't remember. Anyway, tug stands for "timeshare users group".
If you are in doubt ( & you are!), then cancel w/in the 10 day period. Try renting from an owner & see if you like the property. You may find that renting gives you a lot more flexibility. On the other hand, some timeshare owners use thier ownership to "trade" for other weeks @ other affiliated properties. Generally, it is not a good idea to purchase a timeshare if financial return on your investment is your main priority. But for "trading power" it is often a good way to go! Intrawest has been around a long time, it's a solid company; I've been thinking myself of looking into a timeshare. Did you buy it in Tremblant, is there a website to browse for info ?

I did not explain myself. We come to Sandestin in Florida every year for at least a week. It's paradise for families.

Sandestin was purchased by Intrawest and now they offer this point system where if you are frugal (and we are) and flexible you can strech it to 3 weeks.....if you are not then you just use a week or so....but these are 5 star places.....I have seen 3 of them myself and Sandestin Intrawest hotel and resort is one.

The question is if the 40 point system is really as available as they say

Intrawest has been around for years and I check that the company is doing well financially.....what I want to know if it can be as good as it looks.

We spend at least $2000 a week staying in Sandestin so eventhough the timeshare is not cheap it seems fair.....

Any Intrawest users out there?????

I forgot to say that we bought 120 points and don't have to do anything to earn them......they are ours and we can borrow points from next year if need to be

We are at Sandestin now and met an older couple who bought 2 years ago...they are retired and own 195 points...they ove it but they have not tried the 40 point weeks
