Inexpensive restaurants in Montreal & Quebec City, please!

My hubbie,9-year-old daughter & I will be visiting Montreal/Quebec City for 4 full days each in late June. Our hotels are close to the Old City in both venues. Any recommendations for good places to eat that won't break the bank? My daughter is quite an adventerous eater, so we don't need to be limited to just Big Macs & pizza! Thanks for your input.

Montreal has many good, moderately priced places to eat. Since I rarely eat in the old city, I can't think of any there but there are probably a few. Downtown, Le Grand Comptoir right off St. Catherine is an authentic French Bistro, and quite resonable. Le Commensal is a pleasant vege cafeteria with lots of exotic offerings. The best selection of inexpensive eateries is in the Plateau area, on or near St. Denis, and especially the ethnic BYOB places on Duluth.

A great place for lunch is Olive and Gourmando on St-Paul street in Old Montreal. http://www.oliveetgourmando.com/index_flash.cfm
There is also Stash on St-Paul that serves great Polish food.

Thank you, zootsi & Jojonana, that's very helpful. I especially like the sound of the vegetarian place. And Polish, that sounds good (I'm 1/2 Czech) I really appreciate your input!

I believe Le Grand Comptoir is on Sq. Phillip, in the heart of the downtown shopping area.
