banff/jasper trip in september
please give me some advice regarding fine dining in both banff and jasper. We are staying at the banff springs hotel and will be dingin one night at their restaurant, the banffshire club. Thanks for the help!

In Banff, Bison Mountain Bistro is AMAZING. Highly recommended. Everything is locally sourced (as detailed at great length in the menu), and the cooking is wonderful. We had a pizza with venison pepperoni--amazing. Prices were not bad considering the incredible quality.
We didn't find such great fabulous food in Jasper, but then we didn't try the JPL. But La Fiesta, in town, was actually surprisingly good. Try Patricia St. Deli if you are looking for great sandwiches!

The Maple Leaf Lounge in Banff is a restaurant and bar with very good food. We ate there a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it. Here's a link to the menu: http://www.banffmapleleaf.com/ It was quite busy, but we didn't have a problem making a reservation a couple of hours in advance.
We also ate the Juniper Bistro, when we stayed at its hotel. It wasn't as good as the Maple Leaf (or Emerald Lake Lodge's restaurant), but I'd recommend it for lunch with a view. It's actually just outside the main townsite, on a hill above the highway and has good mountain views. There is a nice terrace, so it would make a good option for lunch. If you want a window or terrace table, you should reserve in advance.
