For accommodation in Victoria I would highly recommend Abigail's, it's about 3-4 blocks from the Inner Harbour and has breakfasts that are out of this world, a great way to start the day. For your trip to Tofino you will most definately need a car, I agree that the Wickaninnish Inn is overated. We recently stayed in Ucluelet at The Terrace Beach Resort, quite an interesting resort and right on a cove. Whatever you decide I'm sure you will have a wonderful trip.

Thanks all for the recent posts and trip report. We can't wait.
live42day, we're coming from Cincinnati, so we're looking forward to some new scenery.
Another question...
If anyone had to pick two of the wineries north of Victoria, which ones? We likely will only have time to visit one or two. We'll have a car.

here is a link to a map of the wineries. I did the tour around five years ago and liked most of them. Cherry Point is a big one, (for here)so I would concentrate on the four in that area and do a circle trip of them close by. THe Venturi Schulze does not do wine tasting.
If you venture further north towards Duncan the Vigneti Zanata has a resteraunt and beautiful grounds so you could stop there for lunch It was a great break in the middle of the tours. Just be sure that you have you DD and someone who does not want to partake in the wine tasting.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
