Going Over The Falls In A Barrel Picture...Where?

Just got back from Niagara Falls. Haven't been there since I was a kid. My husband and daughter loved it, especially the new waterpark and the Butterfly Conservatory.

But I wanted to get a picture of us "going over the falls". When I was a kid (OK, it was in the late 70's when I was last there) my mom, dad and I had a picture taken at one of those tourist places where you stood in a barrel and it looked like you were going over the falls. You pretended to look scared.

Just for nostalgic reasons, I wanted to take one with my husband and daughter, but couldn't find it. If memory serves me correctly, it was on Clifton Hill, but the place has changed so much (it's crazy now!)...well, if it was there, I couldn't find it.

Anyone know if it still exists or exists in another place so we can plan on it for next time?

My family always had it taken in the Skylon Tower.

Hi all. I was looking for some info on the "Niagara dare-davil" picture stand myself when I stumbled on your web page here,so I opened an account to let you know. I just came back from Alberta to Montreal 4 days ago and I stopped in Niagara falls on my way here.Like you but july 9th 1986 I had my picture taken at that booth.I wanted to re-new a picture in the barril... I've seen the new way of doing it (in front of a green screen and with a computer program they have you over the falls in a barril and I didn't like it to be honnest. I wanted the original one to compare with the first one I have. With some research on the internet I found it! It was at the skylon tower at the entrence. the day after I went there and it was closed so asked at the info counter and the young lady there told me that the man operating the booth had been doing it for 40 years and some time ago he had a heart attack and they haven't seen him since. Sad story indeed for the man, hope he's doing ok.So I didn't get my pics and came back to montreal the day after.I took my old picture and scanned it and when I removed the photo from the (news paper)frame it came in I noticed that there were acctualy 4 places in Niagara wher you could have taken sutch a picture.1-On clifton hill, 2-a place called "maple leaf village", 3- the skylon, and 4- Niagara falls museum. I don't know if all 4 stands were owned by the same man and I haven't seen any.I went on clifton hill and the skylon, I haven't gone at the other places.

stargazer62,
Maple Leaf Village and Niagara Falls Museum have both been gone for about 15 years.
MLV became Casino Niagara and the Museum became Bird Kingdom.
