Gaspe accommodations
We will be spending 3 or 4 nights on the Gaspe penninsula mid-August. Prefer to stay in small village, maybe one with a shop or restaurant or waterfront walk. Looking for B&B, cabin, simple clean accommodations. (We would normally camp but space limitations in our car would prohibit us from having sleeping bags, tent, etc. to make this workable.) Any suggestions for village/town to stay? Any ideas for accommodations?

On my one visit to the Gaspe, I drove the outside loop in that we did not get away from the coast roads into the interior.
We spent one night at Ste. Anne du Mont at the Beau Rivage motel. It was at the time ok. The staff at the time spoke limited English.
The next night was in New Carlisle on the south shore of the peninsula.
It took us a long, long day to drive from Ste. Anne du Mont to New Carlisle.
I should have allowed an extra day in there somewhere to enable us to see a little more around Perce.
The reason for the long day was that we stopped so often and the roads are not high speed.

As Bob did, you will have to spread the nights you have around the peninsula. Not sure where you are coming from, but a good stop for the first night would be between Mont-Joli and Sainte-Anne-des-Monts (closer to the latter if you want to see the Parc de la Gaspesie), then the Gaspé/Percé area, and then a night somewhere between Bonaventure and Carleton. You might find Percé busy (although it is not big at all!) There is an endless selection of "small villages" - they are all listed on www.infogaspesie.com (click on "Towns and Villages"
with links to accommodations.
The only B&B I can recommend from recent experience is the Gîte du patrimoine, in the small village of Maria (south side of the peninsula) - it is afordable and located in a lovely heritage home. You will find it listed with many more B&B's on www.bbcanada.com/quebec

I must say that if you visit the Gaspe area you must stop by Forillon Park, it's a must, i've been around many times and i fell in love with Cap-Des-Rosiers. There you can see the highest lighthouse of Canada and the oldest mountains of the world within a beautifull Park, i have also discovered a very nice place to stay at the Motel Du Haut Phare

It's been a long time since I've visited, but my grandmother was born and grew up in Paspébiac (near New Carlisle) and I've visited there a few times. I remember the whole Gaspé area as being very beautiful. One B&B I know of there is: http://www.bbcanada.com/399.html (they speak English)
