Floridians Just Drivin' Through Nelson

This September (hurricanes allowing, we live in Florida), we're taking a 2-week trip from Victoria to Banff. We'd like to spend a night or two in Nelson -- some of it because of the movie, Roxanne, we'll admit. Does anybody have special recommendations as to where to stay? Or a preference among Heritage Inn, Best Western Baker Street Inn, New Grand Hotel, or Blaylock's Mansion? There seems to be a variety of B&Bs, which sounds good also. note a number of B&B's...private bath is important, though.
Appreciate any insight anyone might offer on lodging or Nelson sights in general, thanks.

I've stayed at the Best Western which is fine but rather dull. Blaylock's Mansion looks lovely as I drive by but it isn't within walking distance from town.

If I was doing it I'd look for a B&B within walking distance of town centre but sorry, I can't recommend one.

I've stayed at the Baker Street Best Western and it was quite nice. It's a very chopped up layout though and there are a great variety of rooms because of it. The furniture is sorta retro. the location is good for walking through the business district and there are lots of things to see and do within walking distance of the hotel.

There is another hotel down by the lake that at the end of the trolley line thatlooks to be of fairly high, (maybe four star) quality but I forget its name. But it's a steep walk up from there to the main business district.

All things considered we found the Baker Street rooms a little on the small side but otherwise very nice and comfortable.

The hotel by the lake is the Prestige. It's a nicer hotel than the Best Western. It is a bit more of a walk but if you like walking it's doable.

Thanks so much. I do think a B&B that is in good walking distance of the center of town would be ideal, if I can convince hubby (he hasn't gotten over the room at the Wawona in Yosemite that didn't have its own bathroom...at least HE didn't run into a bear trekking down to take a shower!). If I can't settle on one of those, I'm tending toward the Best Western, I guess.
