hi again,

Tojos is considered the best sushe restaurant in Vancouver. Very expensive though. Caffe de Medici also very good, great bread sticks, expensive wine list. Bridges pub has a great deck for summer; food is typical pub food; great view. Upstairs at Bridges also has a deck for summer, much more upscale ; however I have not eaten here. Monk McQueens is in a great location on the water, is known for its oysters. I have not been for number of years as I was never that impressed by the food. William Tell is a lovely long time here sort of place with great service. We had our work AGM there last year and it was great.

Pat, could you tell me a bit about the wines of Canada? Are there tasting rooms you can go to? Do you have any suggestions for a first time visitor of places I should not miss or some wines to sample in the area?

I enjoy all wines, reds and whites, leaning towards Pinot Noir and Zin for reds and Sauv Blancs and Viognier for whites. TIA! ***kim***

hi kim,

there are two main wine regions in BC; main one in the Okanogan and the smaller one in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. Many of them do have tasting rooms and their are wine tasting tours in the fall. To get a list i think you would have to go through tourist office in BC.

Where are you from?

As to recommending wines, I dont think I can do this. Tastes are so individual. Some restaurants here specilize in BC wines though, such as the Raincity Grill and you would have an opportunity to try different kinds here.

HI Pat, I live in CA so we're prety spoiled with our excellent wine regions here. Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Santa Barbara areas produce some of the finest wines in the world, IMO! I'm looking forward to sampling some from Canada. Cheers! ***kim**

Was there ever a Trip Report after this visit?

My aunt and uncle are coming up from Az and I am trying to do some research on Vancouver to help them, as well as pack ... yikes!

In the next couple of months, tennis woman. They have decided that they are not doing so well, healthwise in the dry air of Northern Arizona, so they are seriously talking about Vancouver.

I wonder if kim ever went to Vancouver..I don't remember her ever mentioning it before.
Thanks for your help, I am just gathering notes and sending them along..like I need to help someone else move right now lol
