There was a big fire at Tigh-Na-Mara resort in Parksville (BC) a few days ago. So ... if you have a booking there, I'd suggest contacting them to make sure you've still got a room!

They're not completely closed, just one of the buildings was affected. So it may still be possible to stay there. But the other "resorts" on the same stretch of beach are good bets too. I've stayed at Madrona, but I think they only do weekly rentals. Grey Crest is also right on the beach.
