Daughter is Green Gables fan -- recommendations?

My 9-year-old daughter is an Anne of Green Gables fan. I am planning to take her to PEI in July or Aug. 2003. I've read about all the tacky stuff. What Anne sites/activities would you recommend?

The Ann of Green Gables house is interesting. But certainly, if Confederation Place in Charlottetown is running their Ann of Green Gables play take that in.

If you plan to attend the show you can go to confederationcentre.com and find dates of show and choose your seating. It is quite popular and booking is a must.

Down the road from the Anne of Green Gables house is the old post office where LM Montgomery lived with her grandparents and from where she wrote her first books. I found this fascinating. The house is no longer there but you can go outside and see what she would have seen from her window etc. This was the highlight of my Anne tour.

When I was in Cavendish there was a little village operating there with a bunch of little shops and houses and a church etc. that you could see things going on in. It might have been called Avonlea or something from the books, I can't remember, but it was right on a main street and I had lots of fun there. The play was good too. Of course you must buy her some raspberry cordial (don't worry, it really is raspberry coridal, not wine!).
