Any comments on the casino in Montreal.Anything like Vegas? Is it worth going to? What is the name and where is it located?

It's like the one's in Vegas, maybe a little more upscale. Nice restaurants. No free drinks. One of the largest Casinos in the world. It's on an island off Montreal. About a $15 cab ride from downtown Montreal -- also a subway.

There's also a free shuttle to the casino, but it stops at 11pm. The cab drivers charge a fixed rate to get to/from the casino.

I read in a guide book that there is a dress code for the casino. How dressed up do you need to get?<BR>Thanks<BR>Mary

There was no dress code last year! Unless it is to wear something! It was packed, there were people dressed all kinds of ways, it is very smokey, nothing like Las Vegas casinos, unless it is the really old ones that no one goes to anymore.<BR>Gambling is awful there. I guess it could be worth one trip just to see what it is like, otherwise, save your money and time and do something else.

I personally think that it's the best Casino in the world, and I'll tell you why. In terms of games, they have everything you can think of. Slots for 5 cents to 500$. THERE IS NO DRESS CODE, there is no admission fee, and best of all WINNINGS ON ANY AMOUNT ARE NOT TAXED!!!

there IS a dress code, but it's pretty basic--no shorts in the evening, no tank tops for men, something about no gang-related or objectionable t-shirts. It's not a dress code in the sense that you need to wear a jacket and tie, but they are trying to maintain some decorum.<BR>5 cents slots--really?? I couldn't find anything that low, but it is a huge place, so... If you like to play blackjack for fun but want to keep you bets on the low side ($1-$2), you'll have to play the version where you sit down with a virtual/video dealer rather than the real thing. I think the 'real' tables start at $5 or $10.<BR><BR>The site and building of the Casino de Montreal is interesting because it was built for Expo 67, as the Canadian Pavillion, I think.<BR><BR>Worth going to? If you like Casinos in general and have some time one evening, by all means go. I rarely go to casinos so when I'm in Montreal, I take the opportunity to go for a couple hours just as I would with any other evening activity. It's not a glitzy place like Vegas hotels, nor as run down and tacky as some in Atlantic city.<BR><BR>Hope this info helps you

Not the Canadian Pavillion.<BR><BR>The main Casino building was the French Pavillion and its annex was the Quebec Pavillion.
