Can't book hotels for next June

I'm going on a cruise to Alaska in June of 2006 and need a hotel in Vancouver the night before and another hotel in Vancouver for a few nights after the 7-day cruise. Would love to stay at the Wedgewood, but when I go to Expedia, I can't book any hotels except for Sutton Place, and a few others. Is that because they are all booked? Or is it too far in advance? Also, should I email the hotel directly? I tried to book through aaa.com, but they don't show hotels for June 2006 yet. I'm frustrated because I don't know if it's too soon to book air, hotel, etc., or too late! Thanks for your responses.

I am sure the Wedgewood isn't releasing any rooms to companies like Expedia as it is too soon. They may want to change their rates etc. The only answer is to just call them directly at least then you will know.

Thank you. I will take your advice and call the hotels. I was worried that the hotels would be booked due to the influx of passengers from the cruise ships.

I booked our rooms at The Wedgewood in July last December. I couldn't find any deals from Expedia, Orbitz, etc., but called the hotel direct and got a very good rate (AAA discount). I checked from time to time in the following months and never found a better price for my dates on any of the "discounters".

Thank you, Patrick and traveller69. I'll call Wedgewood directly. I emailed them and got a rate that does not seem to be the best one. I even mentioned Triple A. From all of the postings, everyone seems to agree that this hotel would be an excellent choice.
