Thank you for a most informative trip report. We are starting to plan for Aug/Sept 2013.

It's one of our favorite places to travel. Have fun planning and have a good trip next year.

Thanks LindainOhio - We've book Fairmont in Banff and Lake Louise. We haven't made any other plans at this point but your trip report will help a great deal. We'd like to have a really nice dinner in Banff for our 40th Anniversary. Do you have any thoughts on the best choice? We like a quiet atmosphere.

Also, is a scenic railway we can pickup in Banff or near Lake Louise? We'll have a car but it's nice to do a train so my husband can enjoy the scenery, too

No train unless you want to spring for $$$ and go to Vanc. If so, the Rocky Mountain Mountaineer (I think it is called) is the only one. Brewster Tours do have buses that travel around and perhaps they are not necessarily tours..don't know for sure.. google them.

We are taking the Brewster bus between Jasper and Banff late September, which spends time on the Columbia Icefields. I'm pretty sure there are other tours. Check them out at

ExploreRockies.com

We have also booked a tour to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake for an afternoon with Discover Banff Tours.
