Canadian Rockies & limited mobility

My mother, whose ability to walk is highly limited but does not use a wheelchair, has expressed an interest in visiting the Canadian Rockies. She has heard that taking the train is nice, but she also suffers from claustrophobia, so wouldn't be able to deal with sleeping in a train compartment. I'm perfectly willing to drive. All that being said, can anyone recommend a good starting point for researching a trip to this area?

do a search on the web banff+tours. see if some offer day trips that accommodate people like your mom. they may even have a weekchair you could rent for a day. the trip around lake louise is flat and could be done with a wheel chair.
you could drive up there and then stay in a hotel in town where she could go for short walks. just driving around is beautiful.
stay a few days in banff and take the drive to jasper. if she swims and your there in the summer, you can rent canoes, go white water rafting...

The Rocky Mountainer Train runs from Calgary to Vancouver. You do not sleep on the train as it stops over night in Kamloops. I highly recommend it.

Visit www.banfflakelouise.com for all the answers you need.

Blessings,
