Canadian Rockies: 6 days

How should we best allocate our time of 6 days in the canadian rockies ie Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff?

We are interested in some light (easy) hiking/trekking, photo taking, and some city life.

We were thinking:
2 days Jasper
2 days Lake Louise (Lake O'hara)
2 days Banff

any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.......

Hello HappyTraveling,

I am suffering from posting fatigue. However, if you click on my name and follow my previous posts, I think it's fair to say you'll find all the information you could possibly need.

That's not only because of the information that I personally have typed, but because the threads in which I have posted also are likely to contain posts by Canadian Rockies fan Bob Brown.

In addition to that, several of my posts have provided links to additional sources of information.

You also can check out the Destinations section of the Fodor's website. You can find the link to it near the top left hand corner of the Fodor's screen.

You haven't mentioned the timing of your trip. I hope you're planning to go some time between, say, June 8th and the end of September (certainly no later than Canadian Thanksgiving, which is the second Monday of October). The reason for that, in a word, is lakes. Turquoise lakes to be more precise, and the thawing that is required for you to see the turquoise colour.

Although I've mentioned it in many previous posts and you would find links to it eventually, I'll save you some time and mention my website about travelling to Calgary and the Canadian Rockies:

http://groups.msn.com/CalgaryandCana...Tips/home.msnw

Hope that helps.

Thanks Judy. I've viewed your website and postings and THANK YOU for the mass amount of information.

I have now planned

2 days Jasper
3 days Banff and Lake Louise
2 days Lake O'hara

If I were to add 1 more day (have a feeling that the above isn't enough : ), should I spend extra time in Jasper or Banff/Lake Louise?

Thanks again for being so helpful to all of us new to the Canadian Rockies.

Hello HappyTraveling,

Glad you've found the information helpful.

If you can afford to add another day, I would add it to Jasper.

Hi Wind,
I saw the similarity too

We'll be in Lake O'hara on the 25-27June. Although.....I'm calling to see if we can arrive 2 days later, based on space availability. We're thinking of stopping by Calgary.
Who knows.....we might run into each other........

I will let you know if I manage to change the dates. If I do, then we'll be there the same time
