Cabotto's restaurant in Ottawa

We will be visiting friends just outside of Ottawa in a couple of weeks and they have suggested dinner at a restaurant called Cabotto's. Has anyone been there? What is it like?
Thanks

I used to eat at the original one a lot when they were just around the corner from me. They were in Kanata for a long time (20 years plus I believe it was). They have since moved to Stittsville, (which is where your friends live I assume), therefore I havent been to the "new" Cabotto's. But in the past it was good. And I hear from people that they like the new one. So chances are good...
If not, Alfonsetti's is in Stittsville as well, those are basically the two "nicer" Italian restaurants out there. Enjoy! And now you have me thinking I really should check out the new Cabotto's, I think he's been there for 2 years or more now!

Thanks Sherri. Our friends actually live in Kanata (I guess that they too know Cabotto's from it being in Kanata). Given that they do not live in Stittsville, we could technically go anywhere. Are there Italian restaurants in Ottawa that you might recommend instead of Cabotto's?

Well, I understand why they probably want to go to Cabotto's, its closer to go to Stittsville than down to Preston Street (Little Italy). I just called my sister who ate at the new Cabotto's with her inlaws a while back, she's a pickier eater than me, lol, and she claimed it was very good. But if you want to go to Preston, there are tons of Italian Resto's there, some more expensive than others: Giovanni's, La Roma, Trattoria Italia (although its louder in its "newer" location than its old one). Lots of good picks on Preston Street. Perhaps your friends have a good reason for picking Cabotto's though....and perhaps thats the one it shall be And it is closer to Kanata. There is also a Fratelli's in Kanata, but personally I am not a fan, although it gets good reviews, I eat there for convenience with clients, but I'm not big on their food or staff. If your friends are choosing Cabotto's, it strikes me that they prefer "old style" Italian, thus the choices I gave you on Preston. Whichever you choose, enjoy!
