Butchart Gardens- picnic or restaurant

We will be going to Butchart Gardens on Saturday 8/4. I want to catch the fireworks and light displays.

We were planning to also have dinner on the premesis since fireworks start at 9:30pm.

I was wondering if we should order one of the gourmet picnic baskets or if we should dine at the restaurant.

Does anyone have an experience or recommendation that they can share?

Thanks a million!

Either option is great. If you want a third - take your own picnic and eat it while sitting on the grass waiting for the fireworks to begin. Best advice is to arrive early, pick out your spot, put down a blanket, chairs, etc. and they wander the gardens.

We're not impressed by the restaurant. Weather permitting, take a picnic.

I was about to ask if anyone had a recent experience at their restaurant. I went years ago and it was bad. I don't mind the cafe for snacks though.

We ate at the cafeteria. There were four of us and I don't remember anyone complaining or raving, so I guess the food there is just ok.

I had lunch at the restaurant just a few weeks ago, and it was wonderful.
