Butchart Gardens in July

Have read about the fireworks on Saturday nights in July and August. It sounds great. Two questions: Has anyone eaten at the restaurant at Butchart? Would like to do that before the fireworks. Also, will it be a mob scene?

Have you given any thought to touring the gardens themselves? They are worth a visit. Some people think they are spectacular.

We've had tea there, which was very nice.

These are the best fireworks you will ever see. While having a dinner in the dining room prior would be lovely (make sure to make reservation) we have always enjoyed taking a picnic supper out and eating on the grass while waiting for the show to begin. The die hards get there about 5:00 p.m., grab their spot on the grass with blankets and then wander the gardens. Is it a mob scene - yes but great fun and worth every minute. FYI - you really don't have to get there that early, we just have always enjoyed making a evening out of it.

Thanks for the information --is there a place you recommend for picking up a picnic dinner? That sounds like fun.

You can pick up sandwiches to go right at Butcharts, either at the coffee shop or the Poppy Seed restaurant (not the main restaurant). Alternatively, I'm presuming you're staying at a hotel - perhaps they would pack a picnic for you.

I have provided a detailed account of my meal at the restaurant at Butchart Gardens...includes the fireworks too.

If you click on my name scroll down until you find my Alaska Trip Report. It is in two parts. I am pretty sure that the full report of our dinner is in part 1.

It is not a mob scene. The picnic option is rather romantic. You dine right in the restaurant garden with others. They provide red/white check tablecloths for the lawn...lovely

Enjoy,
