Becker's Chalets or Pyramid Lodge?

Pyramid Lodge is further out from Jasper and older than Becker's Chalets, (the new section was built in the 90's), but quite a bit more expensive even though Becker's has a higher rating from AAA/CAA.

Does anyone have an opinion as to which is the better or nicer place to stay?

Also, are there any recommendations for dinner for two nights either in or around Jasper?

We were at Becker's in '98, and loved it. Are booked for a week there this June, so we're really looking forward to it. They've upgraded their TV selection (used to be able to get CBC from 4 areas of the country and not much else) and have done some renovating. Try to get a riverside chalet, as the Athabasca rapids make a lovely lullaby.
ja

Actually, I checked the rates, and rather surprisingly, Becker's is quite a bit less expensive for August. AAA/CAA ranks Becker's with 3 diamonds, and Pyramid with only 2.

But thank you for the recommendation.

Thanks ja, I posted my reply before I saw yours. Did you mind not having the security of a telephone in your cabin? Did you stay in an upper or a lower? I thought we would take an upper for a balcony and a view.

Hi, Elaine -
The office has a phone and I believe there's a payphone outside the office as well. In addition, if there's an urgent situation, just holler for help - it's a pretty laid-back, "family" feeling type of place. We take what they call a deluxe riverside chalet with 2 bedrooms - they have pictures at their website www.beckerschalets.com ; if you have a balcony facing the river, you should have a great view and no neighbors above you!!(our little in-joke is that anytime we're in a downstairs, the German Olympic furniture-moving team is housed above us)
ja

We stayed at Becker's couple of yrs. ago and loved it. We had 1-BR upper w/balcony.
For a fine meal I'd suggest Jasper Lodge Inn. It was fantastic. Food was great and so was the view-overlooking the lake.Something special !You'll need reservations for dinner, I think.
How I wish we'd go again- it was one of the best trips we have taken.
Have a great time.
