BC roadtrip

In early August, I'll be driving through BC to Stewart/Hyder. Then, in mid-august, I'll retrace the route back down to Vancouver and across the border to Seattle. My intended route is C-1 to BC-99 then north to Prince George. From there, I'll take the Yellowhead Hwy to Kitwanga then north on BC-37 to the Stewart/Hyder Junction. Coming back, I'll continue down C-97 and C-1 to the border instead of going through Vancouver.

I plan on 3 days travel in each direction and 8 days around Stewart/Hyder. Aside from the bear viewing and glaciers around Stewart/Hyder, do any of you have any suggestions about places to see or things to do enroute or at my destination?

I'll have a rental sedan so anything requiring 4-wheel drive is eliminated.

Thnaks in advance for your help.

Get 'Hyderized' !!!

Other than that, Barkerville is an interesting stop, a couple of hours south of Prince George. You can acually stay overnight in this authentic reconstructed Gold rush town.

Thanks Lunabug. I'll check Barkerville out. Unfortunately, I'm an old f*rt an on a fair amount of medication that keeps me alive and relatively healthy but prevents me from drinking alcohol. I'll just have to stop in for the local color but won't be able to actually by Hyderized.

I understood, that a fee is charged for entering the Fish creek viewing platform in Hyder (since 2006). This is maybe of intrest for you.

There are greate Provincial Parks on your trip through BC. Every Park is worth a visit.

I can also recommend the whale-whatching Tours in Prince Rupert. They are very intresting.

I had not heard about the fee for the Fish Creek area. I'll let you know what it is when I get back.
