For Montreal, read thread "Where to go/stay in Montreal". It's near the end of the 'first 50' posts (currently).
In Quebec City, you can find many inexpensive B&B's in the old city on St. Ursaline (sp?) street. A very nice area.
In Montreal, however, I would recommend a B&B in the Square St. Louis area instead. This is a very charming upscale neighborhood close to the St Dennis and St Laurent cafe's and shops. We stay in this area every year and love it. Montreal's old city is very nice, but I'd prefer the Square St Louis area. I highly reccommend Pierre & Dominique's B&B on Square St. Louis!

Are there any nightclubs near
Pierre & Dominique's B&B on Square St. Louis? We'd like to go to the clubs
every night.

Igor - there are tons of interesting clubs and restaurants close by Square St Louis. St. Denis (about 1 block east of the square), has many interesting places to eat with outdoor tables. There are also some jazz and blues clubs here. If you head west from the square, along the pedestian mall of Prince Arthur Street (which is ALL sidewalk cafe's and street entertainment) you will come to St. Laurent, the dance club mecca of Montreal. St. Laurent is lined with very hip restaurants open to the street, above many of them are the dance clubs. We went to 'Swimming' which featured great swing/blues/jive dance music. Just pick up one of the free entertainment newspapers (in French or English)to find out what's happening.
Another tip - walk up St. Denis to Duluth Street and eat at one of the great bring your own bottle retaurants with an outdoor patio on Duluth. Jardin de Panos is perhaps the best.
It's unfortunate that so many tourists just stay in the old city, or on St. Catherine street, and miss so much of the real Montreal!

Unfortunately Pierre & Dominique's B&B on Square St. Louis are booked for the period of time that I am planning my visit to Montreal. Do you have any
other suggestions for very good B&B
in that area of the city?

Thanks,
I.

Hee are some other ideas: - Welcome B&B on Laval, about 1 block up from the square. I haven't stayed there, but it looks nice. Also - Pierre has the phone # of his neighbor, an older woman who also does B&B. We stayed there a few weeks ago - not bad for the price, but there is only one very tiny shared bathroom.
You can also try the various Montereal B&B agencies on the web. Also try Gite Parc du Fontaine - a simple but clean and inexpensive B&B hostel a few blocks east on Sherbrooke, still a very nice area.
